Nepal house survives violent flash flood in Nuwakot

A 40-year-old green house in the Nuwakot district of Nepal has gained international attention after surviving a violent flash flood that destroyed surrounding buildings, vehicles, and debris.

During the flood, six family members were forced to retreat to the top floor of the residence as water levels rose rapidly. While the structure remained standing, the lower portion sustained significant damage, and various goods, vehicles, and motorcycles stored on the property were swept away by the torrent.

The owner, Prakash, attributed the building's survival to its reinforced concrete frame and specific foundation design, which allowed it to withstand the force of the water while neighboring structures were obliterated.
