Nepal monsoon expected to withdraw by Dashain festival

Meteorologists from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology indicate that Nepal’s monsoon season is nearing its conclusion. Current projections suggest the monsoon may completely withdraw from the country by the Dashain festival.

While the monsoon entered Nepal through the eastern region on June 19, there is currently no significant weather system capable of producing heavy rainfall. The monsoon has already withdrawn from most parts of neighboring India and is expected to begin withdrawing from western Nepal shortly.

Although the official withdrawal is anticipated by Dashain, experts caution that this does not guarantee an immediate end to all precipitation. Light rain or occasional drizzle may still occur during the festival period, which could lead to cooler temperatures.
