Nepal National Assembly urges unity, youth jobs and anti‑human‑trafficking measures
Members of Nepal's National Assembly called for preserving social harmony amid rising tensions. In a special hour session, lawmakers urged the government to address farmers' concerns, create employment opportunities for young people, and strengthen communal cohesion across Sunsari district and Madhesh Province.
They highlighted the need for coordinated federal‑local action to curb human trafficking, noting that lack of domestic jobs drives many, especially women, to seek risky foreign work. Lawmakers also pressed for swift resolution of landlessness, action against usurious moneylending, and measures to control smuggling along the open Nepal‑India border. Additional concerns included rising prices of essential commodities, cooking‑gas shortages, and ongoing discrimination against Dalits.
