Nepal national cricket team departs for 20th Asian Games

The Nepalese national cricket team has departed for Japan to compete in the 20th Asian Games. Ahead of their departure, the squad received an official farewell at the National Sports Council, attended by officials including Cricket Association of Nepal Secretary Paras Khadka.

Team captain Dipendra Singh Airee expressed high morale, noting that the squad’s previous experience in the tournament will be a vital asset in their pursuit of a medal. Head coach Stuart Law emphasized the need for exceptional performance to advance beyond the quarterfinals.

The team’s mission carries significant emotional weight following recent devastating floods in Nepal, which resulted in over 1,400 deaths. Officials and players noted that the team aims to provide a sense of pride and a “small ray of happiness” to a nation currently focused on recovery and reconstruction.
