Nepal Police have arrested two men, identified as 25-year-old Madan Gurung and 38-year-old Umesh Chaudhary, for allegedly stealing gold earrings from the body of a woman during catastrophic flash floods. The incident was captured in a 41-second viral video showing the suspects using wooden planks and the victim's hair to pull her body from the Narayani River before removing the jewelry.

The arrests took place in Bharatpur, Chitwan district, following widespread public outrage over the inhumane act. This incident occurred amidst one of Nepal's deadliest natural disasters, triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border that caused massive flooding and landslides.

The disaster has resulted in a significant death toll, with reports indicating between 350 and 579 fatalities, and over 1,400 people missing. The flooding has caused extensive destruction to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and power projects, affecting tens of thousands of people across the region.
