Nepal seeks to lift FIFA suspension of football association

The National Sports Council (NSC) of Nepal is intensifying efforts to lift a FIFA suspension imposed on the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). The ban has halted Nepal’s participation in international competitions and created significant uncertainty for the country’s football sector.

NSC Member Secretary Ram Charitra Mehta stated that the government is treating the suspension as a high priority and is maintaining continuous coordination with FIFA to reach a positive resolution. He urged players and fans to remain patient while discussions continue.

The suspension has impacted the livelihoods of players, coaches, and referees, while also preventing ANFA officials from accessing development programs and training organized by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Additionally, Nepal’s participation in the upcoming SAFF Championship in Bangladesh remains uncertain.
