Nepal smartphone imports reach NPR 9.74 billion

Nepal’s smartphone imports reached NPR 9.74 billion during the first two months of the current fiscal year (Shrawan and Bhadra). According to data from the Department of Customs, the country imported 425,000 smartphone units.

While the total volume of imported units decreased by approximately 75,000 compared to the same period last fiscal year, the total import value increased by NPR 86.77 million. This trend indicates a shift in consumer preference toward premium devices. The average import cost per smartphone rose from approximately NPR 17,752 in the previous fiscal year to roughly NPR 22,926 in the current period.
