Following the partial collapse of a Himalayan glacier on August 26, which triggered devastating floods in Nepal, cargo drones are being utilized to reach isolated communities. The Nepal army is currently operating four DJI FlyCart 100 drones, donated by China, to deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, and fuel to areas where roads and bridges have been destroyed by water and mud.

The drones are performing between 10 and 16 relief missions daily, carrying approximately 60 kg (132 pounds) of material per trip. In addition to delivering supplies, the drones are being used to recover the bodies of victims from inaccessible locations. To date, the drones have completed 31 flights, transporting 1,591 kilograms of food.

The disaster has resulted in a confirmed death toll of 1,369 people, with more than 5,000 individuals still unaccounted for. Nepal has deployed over 21,000 police and military personnel to assist in search and rescue operations.
