Nepali Communist Party launches nationwide public awareness campaign
The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has launched a two-month nationwide public awareness campaign, running until December 11, to address criticisms that the party has become too leader-centric and disconnected from its grassroots base. NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, stated that senior leaders must visit villages to listen to public criticism directly and take responsibility for past mistakes.
The party acknowledged that its connections with core supporters, including farmers, workers, and oppressed communities, have weakened. During the campaign, central leaders will lead teams to various neighborhoods to hold discussions with diverse groups such as youth, students, women, and Dalits to regain public trust.
Regarding political relations, Dahal ruled out immediate unification with the CPN-UML, noting that the two parties possess fundamentally different political characters. While he expressed a willingness to cooperate on issues of national sovereignty and democratic rights, he emphasized that cooperation should not be mistaken for party unity. Dahal also criticized the alliance between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, suggesting it could lead to national crisis.
