NEPI Rockcastle enters Spain with €254 million MegaPark Barakaldo acquisition
NEPI Rockcastle has officially entered the Spanish market through the acquisition of MegaPark Barakaldo, a major shopping and entertainment complex in northern Spain. The transaction, valued at approximately €254 million gross, was completed with Le Retail Hiper Ondara (a company belonging to HLRE Socimi).
MegaPark Barakaldo comprises roughly 81,000 square meters of leasable area, including a retail park, fashion outlet, and a dining/entertainment zone. The complex serves a metropolitan area of approximately 1.1 million people in the Bilbao region.
This acquisition marks the first time NEPI Rockcastle, a leading commercial real estate company in Central and Eastern Europe, has invested outside of that region. CEO Marek Noetzel stated that the acquisition provides a strong starting position in one of Spain’s most dynamic regions.
