Nepra approves Rs2.58 per unit electricity tariff hike in Pakistan

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a combined electricity tariff increase of Rs2.58 per unit for consumers across Pakistan. This hike stems from two separate adjustments.

First, a monthly fuel price adjustment for July will add Rs2.06 per unit to electricity bills. This adjustment is expected to impose a burden of approximately Rs33 billion on consumers and will be reflected in September billing cycles.

Second, Nepra approved a quarterly tariff adjustment of Rs0.52 per unit for the April-to-June period. This quarterly increase is scheduled to apply from September through November 2026 and is estimated to cost consumers an additional Rs12.67 billion.

The combined adjustments will affect nationwide consumers, including those served by K-Electric. The increases do not apply to lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, or pre-paid electricity consumers who have opted for pre-paid tariffs.
