Nequi to become independent financing company, separating from Bancolombia on Sep 1 2026

Nequi announced that, effective 1 September 2026, it will operate as Nequi S.A. Compañía de Financiamiento, a financing company owned by Grupo Cibest, after separating from Bancolombia. The change is purely legal; the platform’s services – sending and receiving money, transfers, recharges and cash withdrawals – will continue unchanged and without additional fees. Users will still be able to withdraw cash for free at Bancolombia ATMs and correspondent points.

The new entity will be supervised by the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia, and user deposits will remain protected by the Fogafín deposit‑insurance scheme. Nequi also reiterated its security message, warning users that it will never request personal or financial data through calls, messages or external links, and directing them to official channels for any communication.
