Nerea Monroy to lead Asturias Social Rights Ministry
Nerea Monroy will assume leadership of the Asturias Ministry of Social Rights and Welfare this coming Monday. She succeeds Marta del Arco, who has resigned due to health reasons.
Del Arco has been on medical leave since early June. President Adrián Barbón praised her career, noting she began as an educator within the department and concluded her professional life as a counselor.
Monroy, the current head of the Asturias Residential Establishments for the Elderly (ERA), was selected due to her extensive experience in social policies and her familiarity with the department's challenges. One of the primary objectives for the new leadership is to reduce the resolution time for dependency files to 180 days. The ministry remains a priority for the regional government, which has seen a steady increase in per capita investment in social rights since 2019.
