Nereto authorities investigate suspicious deaths of pigeons at Fontana Vecchia

Authorities in Nereto have launched an investigation following the discovery of numerous dead pigeons at the historic Fontana Vecchia site. The birds, some of which appeared to have been plucked, were found in a state of significant decay, leading officials to suspect human intervention and potential animal cruelty.

In addition to the animal carcasses, unidentified objects were discovered near the structure's rear washhouse, prompting concerns regarding possible ritualistic activity. Mayor Daniele Laurenzi has requested that the Local Police conduct an immediate inspection and review surveillance footage from the area to identify those responsible for the deaths and the placement of the objects.

The site is also reportedly suffering from poor hygienic conditions, including stagnant water, invasive vegetation, and unpleasant odors.
