Neretva Boat Marathon ends in shared victory for Crni put and Gusari Komin

The 29th Neretva Boat Marathon, a major traditional rowing event in Croatia, concluded with a shared victory between the crews Crni put and Gusari Komin. The teams decided to cross the finish line together after a 22.5-kilometre race from Metković to Ploče, emphasizing sportsmanship and mutual respect.

The competition featured 31 male crews and over 500 rowers competing in traditional wooden boats. The event, which has become a significant tourist attraction in southern Croatia, was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and several government ministers. During the event, the Prime Minister discussed regional infrastructure projects, including motorway investments and the construction of a dam on the Neretva to protect the river's fauna and agriculture from seawater intrusion.

In addition to the main marathon, the festivities included the 13th Women's Boat Marathon, where the Sisak crew secured its fifth consecutive victory. The marathon is organized by the Neretva Boatmen’s Association and serves as a key cultural and sporting manifestation for the Neretva River Valley.
