Nerial video game studio enters hibernation after 13 years
Nerial, the British video game development studio known for the ‘Reigns’ series and ‘Card Shark’, has announced it is entering a “hibernation mode” and ceasing active development. Founded approximately 13 years ago by Tamara and François Alliot, the London-based studio has been owned by Devolver Digital since 2021.
The studio’s portfolio includes 11 published titles, most notably the ‘Reigns’ franchise, which saw various adaptations including ‘Reigns: Game of Thrones’ and ‘Reigns: The Witcher’. Other significant releases include ‘Card Shark’ and ‘The Crush House’.
While the founders stated that this decision was made in conjunction with Devolver Digital, specific reasons for the closure were not detailed. The founders emphasized that they intend to continue developing games in the future and have publicly recommended their team members to other studios for new professional opportunities.
