Neringa hosts maritime festival in Curonian Lagoon

A traditional maritime festival in Neringa has concluded its seasonal cycle, marking the end of the sailing season in the Curonian Lagoon. The event, which also opened the season in May, features a unique concert where crews from various locations, including Šilutė, Rusnė, Dreverna, Kintai, Svencelė, Nida, and Klaipėda, gather their vessels to listen to music from the water.

Producer Edmundas Jakilaitis noted that the tradition of inviting boats to anchor in the lagoon for the concert has grown significantly. Neringa Mayor Darius Jasaitis emphasized the symbolic importance of the event for the coastal community and its role in promoting a responsible relationship with the surrounding environment.

In addition to the maritime celebrations, the event included activities focused on forest conservation and education in collaboration with the State Forest Enterprise and the Curonian Spit National Park Directorate. These activities included forest therapy, nature excursions, and discussions regarding environmental maintenance.
