Italian towns host a wave of summer festivals and cultural events
Across Italy, dozens of towns are staging festivals, sagre, exhibitions and performances in early August. In Gangi, Sicily, the 61st Sagra della Spiga celebrates agricultural heritage with processions, music and traditional food. Morano Calabro in Calabria opens the permanent photographic exhibition “Fragmenta”, highlighting the town’s migration history. Montesano sulla Marcellana in Campania presents the “Un Borgo da Favola – Cenerentola” street‑theatre project with international artists. Vallecorsa in Lazio revives the “Vallecorsa di Scena – Transiti Teatrali” festival, mixing comedy, magic, theatre and music. The Ciocia World Festival in Collepardo (Lazio) runs from 31 July to 2 August, offering workshops, concerts and folk‑dance sessions that explore local identity. Other locales such as Legnano, Luino, Treia, and many small villages host food fairs, music nights and traditional dances, drawing residents and tourists alike. These events showcase regional customs, local gastronomy and contemporary artistic expressions, turning historic squares and streets into open‑air stages for the summer season.
