Nerviano residents protest proposed photovoltaic plant

Members of the Lega political party held a demonstration in Nerviano to protest the proposed ‘Nerviano Stefi’ photovoltaic plant. The project, which would cover 4.5 hectares of the Bergamina area, is being opposed by local activists who describe the site as a vital ‘green lung’ and a piece of local history.

Regional Councilor Silvia Scurati has submitted an inquiry to the Lombardy Region to determine if the project complies with new guidelines that restrict the installation of solar panels on certain territories. Opponents argue the installation would have a devastating impact on agricultural land. Local councilor Massimo Cozzi noted that the opposition to the project has become a cross-party issue, involving signature collections supported by the Five Star Movement and the Democratic Party.
