Nessy Guerra faces adultery conviction and prison sentence in Egypt
Nessy Guerra, a 27-year-old Italian woman from Sanremo, is facing a legal crisis in Egypt after being sentenced to six months in prison for adultery. The conviction, handed down by the Red Sea Tribunal in both first and second instances, is immediately enforceable.
Guerra reports living in a state of constant anxiety and feeling “hunted” in a secret location in Egypt. She states that police officers have been stationed outside her residence since July, effectively restricting her movement. The legal action was initiated by her ex-husband, Tamer Hamouda, who has previously faced allegations of mistreatment and threats.
While the Italian Embassy in Cairo has requested a presidential pardon, Guerra has declined to support this move. She seeks acquittal through the Court of Cassation, arguing that accepting a pardon would imply guilt and could negatively impact her ongoing legal battle regarding the custody of her three-year-old daughter.
