Nestlé invests £28 million in UK coffee production and forms global premium water JV

Nestlé is allocating about £28 million (roughly €33 million) to upgrade its Dalston factory in Cumbria, United Kingdom. The investment expands capacity for instant coffee and supports the launch of new products such as Nescafé KitKat White Latte and Nescafé Lion Mocha, aimed at drawing new consumers and improving sustainability through more efficient processes and recyclable packaging.

In parallel, Nestlé and U.S. investment firm Platinum Equity have established a new joint venture called Peranel, valued at $5.6 billion and headquartered in Paris. Peranel will bring together more than 30 premium water and hydration‑drink brands—including S. Pellegrino, Perrier, Acqua Panna and Nestlé Pure Life—sold across approximately 120 countries. The venture will focus on innovation, premiumisation, operational excellence and sustainability, pending regulatory approval expected in the first half of 2027.
