Nestlé invests CHF 563 million in new Thailand coffee plant

Nestlé is allocating CHF 563 million (about US$698 million) to construct a state‑of‑the‑art Nescafé production facility in Samut Prakan province, Thailand. The plant will manufacture a full range of Nescafé products—including soluble coffee, coffee mixes and ready‑to‑drink beverages—and will feature an on‑site distribution centre to improve delivery times and inventory management.

The factory will employ more than 500 workers and rely on advanced automation, AI‑enabled systems, robotics and next‑generation coffee extraction and aroma‑recovery technology. It will source local Robusta beans, supporting Thai farmers with over CHF 100 million of raw‑material purchases each year. The project, backed by Thailand’s Board of Investment, aligns with the country’s Bio‑Circular‑Green economic goals and is slated to begin operations in late 2028, bolstering the local economy and the regional coffee market valued at roughly CHF 1 billion.
