Nestlé navigates restructuring amid fluctuating stock prices
Nestlé is navigating a complex period of restructuring and financial pressure. While the company reported a 2.5% decline in revenue to 43.1 billion Swiss francs and a 31.4% drop in net profit for the first half of 2026, much of the profit decline is attributed to restructuring costs and write-downs. Adjusted earnings per share saw a more modest decrease of 2.4%.
Operational indicators suggest a potential turnaround. Organic growth accelerated to 3.6% in the first half of the year, with the coffee segment leading at 7.5% growth. The company is also focusing on its four core areas, which includes selling off non-core businesses and planning a 50:50 joint venture for water and premium beverages.
Despite these operational improvements, Nestlé's stock price has recently fallen below the 80 franc mark. Investors have expressed concerns regarding the pace of the corporate transformation led by CEO Philipp Navratil, with some comparing the company's decisiveness to competitors like Unilever. While the stock has recovered from lows below 70 francs earlier in the year, market sentiment remains cautious due to a reserved outlook.
