Nestlé Nigeria commissions water regeneration facilities in Agbara
Nestlé Nigeria Plc has inaugurated eight climate-smart boreholes and water treatment plants in the Agbara catchment area of Ogun State. This initiative is part of a broader Water Regeneration Project that also covers the Abaji catchment in the Federal Capital Territory.
The project is built upon four primary pillars: water access via 24 climate-smart boreholes (eight in Agbara and 16 in Abaji), water quality through treatment plants and monitoring, water conservation using rainwater harvesting systems, and water governance through community water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) committees.
According to Olutayo Olatunji, Business Executive Officer for Nestlé Waters and Premium Beverages, the project aims to regenerate local water cycles by combining infrastructure with local governance and performance monitoring to ensure long-term sustainability and watershed resilience.
