Nestlé Nigeria supports 50 women retailers in Zaria
Nestlé Nigeria has marked the fifth anniversary and tenth edition of its Empowering Rural Women Initiative by providing support to 50 women retailers in Zaria, Kaduna State. The beneficiaries received practical business training and grants consisting of Nestlé products valued at three times their current stock levels.
The program includes a three-month mentorship period intended to help participants manage expanded inventories and implement improved business management practices. Since its launch in 2021, the initiative has reached a total of 482 women entrepreneurs across various Nigerian communities.
Company data indicates that over 80% of previous participants have successfully sustained and grown their businesses. Nestlé Nigeria noted that women represent approximately 60% of the retailers within its retail network, playing a critical role in connecting the company to local consumers.
