Nestlé to cut 16,000 jobs and close factories in global restructuring

Nestlé has announced a major global restructuring plan aimed at reducing costs, which includes the elimination of approximately 16,000 jobs. The company expects to complete most of this reorganization by the end of 2027.

The workforce reduction consists of roughly 12,000 administrative and professional roles across various countries, alongside 4,000 positions primarily in manufacturing and supply chain sectors. This represents about 5.8% of the company’s global workforce. To achieve these goals, Nestlé intends to simplify processes, increase automation, and expand the use of shared services.

As part of this cost-cutting initiative, the company is also closing less competitive industrial units. This includes the closure of a factory in Germany and an upcoming shutdown of chocolate production in Hungary by the end of this year. Through its ‘Fuel for Growth’ program, Nestlé has raised its savings target to 3 billion Swiss francs by the end of 2027.
