Nestory Irankunda moves to Sporting CP in €18m deal

Watford FC have reached an agreement to sell Australian winger Nestory Irankunda to Portuguese club Sporting CP for just over €18 million, including add‑ons, with €15 million paid upfront. Sporting submitted a revised bid of €16 million plus bonuses, narrowing the gap with Watford’s €20 million asking price, and the player has reportedly accepted the move and is awaiting final paperwork.

The transfer was complicated by a sell‑on clause held by Bayern Munich, which acquired a percentage of Irankunda’s rights when he moved to Watford in 2025. Despite this hurdle, both clubs are close to finalising the deal, which will give the 20‑year‑old the chance to play in the Portuguese league and potentially feature in UEFA Champions League matches.
