Nestory Irankunda transfer saga: Sporting CP bid, Watford price tag and Bayern buyback clause ends

Australian winger Nestory Irankunda remains a Watford player as multiple clubs vie for his signature. Sporting CP is reported to have lodged a bid of €15‑20 million (£12‑£14 million) plus bonuses, and the Portuguese club expects to finalise the deal soon. Watford has turned down two offers around £10 million (£12.5 million according to some reports) from Sporting and LaLiga side Celta Vigo, stating a higher valuation of at least £12.55 million.

Separately, Bayern Munich’s buy‑back clause on Irankunda has expired and the German club renegotiated its sell‑on clause, reducing its share from 50% to 40% after Watford bought back a 10% stake. The 20‑year‑old, who became the youngest Socceroo to score at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, originally joined Watford from Bayern for a reported AUD 4.8 million.
