Nestroy Irankunda's Sporting Lisbon Transfer Nets Bayern About €7.2 million

Australian forward Nestroy Irankunda, a former Bayern Munich youth prospect, is set to leave England's Watford for Portugal's Sporting Lisbon. The deal is reported to be worth €18 million plus bonuses. Bayern retained a 40 percent sell‑on clause from Irankunda’s 2022 sale to Watford for €3 million, allowing the German club to earn roughly €7.2 million from the transfer. Watford previously bought back a 10 percent share of Bayern’s stake, while the original buy‑back clause has expired. Irankunda never made a senior appearance for Bayern, playing only for the club’s reserve and U19 sides. The move highlights Bayern’s continued financial benefit from former academy players despite limited on‑field involvement.
