Netanyahu and Trump discuss necessity of eliminating Iranian regime
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated he has discussed the “necessity of eliminating the Iranian regime” in multiple conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump. Netanyahu emphasized that as long as the regime exists, it remains extreme enough to rebuild its capabilities, including nuclear production and regional influence.
In a separate development, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with Netanyahu at the Ovda Airbase in the Negev desert. The meeting focused on regional threats and the offensive and defensive partnership between the United States and Israel. Hegseth also acknowledged the presence of thousands of American troops in the region.
Reports indicate that the Trump administration has discussed potential military options against Iran, including a possible three-day campaign targeting missiles, drones, energy facilities, and Revolutionary Guard headquarters. While both leaders have stated they do not desire a renewed war, tensions remain high due to threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's ongoing nuclear and missile programs. The timing of potential escalations is being weighed against upcoming elections in both Israel and the United States.
