Netanyahu rejects Palestinian return to West Bank camps

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Palestinians displaced from West Bank refugee camps will not be permitted to return to their homes. This stance directly challenges a recent ruling by the Israeli Supreme Court, which ordered the military to organize the return of residents from the Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarm camps following military operations in early 2025. Netanyahu characterized the displaced individuals as terrorists rather than residents, describing the camps as “fortresses of terrorism.”

In separate developments ahead of the October 27 parliamentary elections, Netanyahu stated that a preemptive strike against Iran is currently not a viable or useful option, though he warned that Israel would respond forcefully to any attacks from Tehran or its proxies. He also expressed concern that enemies might attempt to test Israel’s security in the lead-up to the vote.

Additionally, reports have emerged regarding Netanyahu’s interactions with Donald Trump concerning potential military actions against Iran, though the Prime Minister’s office has denied seeking to restart a conflict before the elections.
