Netanyahu media monitoring system exposed via GitHub leak
A media monitoring system used by Yonatan Urich to track news regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, was exposed after its source code was left publicly accessible on GitHub.
According to reporting by Haaretz, the system utilizes AI to scan approximately 50 news sources every 90 seconds. It then sends real-time notifications to two dedicated WhatsApp groups: one focused on Sara Netanyahu and another covering the Prime Minister and the Likud Party. The system has reportedly performed over 19,000 scans since September 1.
The exposure revealed the specific media outlets and journalists prioritized by the system. High-priority sources include Amit Segal, Kanal 12, Ynet, Mako, and Kan 11. The Prime Minister's Office has since stated that the security vulnerability has been addressed and the access has been restricted.
