Netanyahu pressures Ofer Winter to withdraw from Israeli election

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich are reportedly attempting to persuade Ofer Winter, leader of the Amcha Yisrael party, to withdraw from the upcoming Knesset elections. The pressure stems from concerns that Winter’s party, which currently polls below the 3.25 percent electoral threshold, could siphon votes away from the right-wing bloc without securing parliamentary seats.

Netanyahu and Smotrich recently met with Rabbi Eli Sadan at the Bnei David military academy in the West Bank to discuss these polling concerns. The political tension has intensified following the withdrawal of Benny Gantz, leader of the Blue and White party, which has consolidated the opposition's strength.

Winter has rejected these calls, accusing the Prime Minister of attempting to pressure him. He maintains that his party offers an alternative for voters dissatisfied with established right-wing leadership. The controversy has also drawn criticism from American conservative commentator Mark Levin, who accused Winter of acting as a “saboteur” that could benefit the Israeli left.
