Netanyahu rejects U.S.-backed 15-point Gaza peace plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a 15-point peace roadmap for Gaza supported by the United States and the Trump-led Board of Peace. The plan, designed to facilitate the gradual disarmament of Hamas and a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, faces significant opposition from the Israeli government.

Netanyahu stated that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas is “genuinely disarmed.” He also reiterated his opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state in either Gaza or the West Bank. This rejection comes amid political pressure from far-right allies and ahead of crucial Israeli elections.

The Board of Peace has emphasized that the proposed plan is the “only way” to prevent future conflict, noting that the agreement includes verifiable steps such as the delivery and rendering unusable of Hamas weapons before any military retreat. In response, Hamas has called for increased American pressure on the Israeli government to respect the diplomatic roadmap, while the Gaza Government Media Office characterized the rejection as a tactic to prolong the war.
