Benjamin Netanyahu sparks UK outrage with ‘Islamic Republic’ remark

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sparked diplomatic tension after referring to the United Kingdom as the ‘Islamic Republic of Great Britain’ during a radio interview with Galei Tzahal.

Netanyahu made the remarks while discussing the perceived decline in British support for Israel compared to historical levels, specifically referencing the support provided by Winston Churchill’s family during the 1967 war. He also referenced a previous comment regarding Britain potentially becoming an Islamic nuclear power.

The British government has formally protested the remarks, labeling them ‘completely unacceptable’ and stating that the issue has been raised with the Israeli government.
