Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited military positions near the Gaza Strip’s ‘Yellow Line’ on Wednesday, asserting that Israel maintains control over approximately 60% of the territory and will not withdraw. Accompanied by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and other high-ranking officers, Netanyahu emphasized that military operations will continue until Hamas is fully disarmed and the enclave is demilitarized.

During the visit, Netanyahu highlighted the recent capture of Muein al-Arabid, identified by Israel as a high-ranking Hamas internal security official, during a ground operation in Gaza City. While Netanyahu stated that the goal of demilitarization has been largely achieved, he insisted that more work is required to ensure Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.

Separately, Defense Minister Israel Katz addressed the issue of Palestinian displacement, stating that a plan for the ‘emigration’ of Gazans remains on the table but is currently frozen due to a lack of US support and a shortage of countries willing to accept migrants. This stance has drawn sharp criticism from Palestinian officials, including advisor Mahmoud al-Habbash, who characterized such discussions as ethnic cleansing and a war crime.
