Netanyahu warns of threats to Israel's maritime security
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Sunday that enemies are attempting to threaten Israel’s maritime domain, including its ports and navigation in the Mediterranean Sea. During a visit to the Ashdod Naval Base alongside Security Minister Israel Katz, Netanyahu reviewed naval capabilities and weaponry used for both defensive and offensive operations.
Netanyahu noted that the maritime arena has become an international battlefield, citing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb strait. He emphasized Israel's commitment to protecting its waters, stating, “we will not allow that to happen.”
Addressing military hardware, Netanyahu confirmed that a sixth submarine has arrived in Israel and indicated a need for more vessels and equipment. He asserted that Israel aims to be a global leader in maritime warfare, both on the surface and underwater.
