Netball Fiji launches grassroots ‘Pass It On’ programme
Netball Fiji has launched the ‘Pass It On’ programme, a grassroots initiative designed to expand netball participation among children and adolescents across the country. The programme aims to use sport to promote inclusion, address gender inequalities, and foster leadership and life skills in young people.
Developed in partnership with Netball Australia and supported by the Australian Government through its ‘Team Up’ programme, the initiative builds on a high-performance partnership established in 2021. The programme has previously been implemented in Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga.
Following a workshop in Suva for eleven Netball Fiji coaches, the programme was trialed at Vunidawa District School. Vasiti Vugakoto, Chair of the Netball Fiji Transition Oversight Committee, noted that the initiative will strengthen community engagement and provide development opportunities for emerging coaches.
