NetEase Youdao launches AI voice agent and partners for robotic English learning

NetEase Youdao has launched ‘NetEase Baige Shuo’, an AI-native voice agent designed to transform voice input into polished text. Unlike traditional dictation tools that transcribe speech verbatim, this tool uses a proprietary technical chain to understand intent, allowing users to correct themselves mid-sentence and automatically filter out filler words like ‘uh’ or ‘um’. The software supports desktop versions for Windows and macOS, offering high-speed transcription and real-time translation for 124 languages.

In a separate educational development, consumer embodied intelligence brand Qiyuan Robot has partnered with NetEase Youdao to integrate the Hi Echo professional oral English learning system into its hardware. The collaboration aims to provide a ‘companion-style’ learning experience through physical interaction, moving beyond traditional screen-based tools. The system features natural multi-turn dialogues, real-time bilingual subtitles, and detailed post-session reports including pronunciation correction and grammar diagnosis. It offers specialized modes for children, IELTS preparation, and free conversation for professionals.
