Netflix acquires Australian docuseries ‘2. 6 Seconds’

Netflix has acquired the global rights to the Australian documentary series ‘2. 6 Seconds: Death in the Outback’ ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Produced by Blackfella Films in collaboration with SBS and NITV, the four-part docuseries examines the fatal police shooting of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker. The series explores complex themes of justice, policing, and racial issues within Australia. While the content is specifically Australian, producers suggest the narrative carries international resonance.

The series is expected to arrive on Netflix in early 2027.
