Netflix and AMC Studios partner for series co-production

Netflix and AMC Studios have entered into a co-production agreement to jointly develop and produce original series. This partnership marks a shift for Netflix into the series co-production business, moving beyond its previous co-licensing models to collaborate directly with traditional studios.

The first project resulting from this deal is the spy thriller ‘Bannerman’, based on the novels by John R. Maxim. The series follows a retired covert operative living in suburban Connecticut. Filmmaker Shane Black is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce, while Craig Silverstein will serve as showrunner.

Distribution for ‘Bannerman’ will vary by region. In the U.S. and Canada, the series will premiere on AMC and become available on Netflix 90 days after the season finale airs on AMC. In Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, the companies will premiere episodes jointly. In all other global markets, Netflix will hold exclusive rights.
