Netflix and KOCCA host VFX pre-production workshop in Seoul

Netflix, in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, held a VFX pre-production workshop in Seoul to share global production expertise with approximately 130 industry professionals.

The workshop, part of the ‘KOCCA x Netflix Production Academy’, focused on integrating visual effects (VFX) into the earliest stages of filmmaking. Rather than treating VFX as a post-production task, experts emphasized designing VFX, art, cinematography, and lighting workflows during pre-production to reduce revisions and budget delays.

Key topics included the use of Generative AI to visualize storyboards, characters, and camera movements before filming. While acknowledging the utility of new technologies, Netflix specialists emphasized that the final creative decisions must remain with directors and creators. The initiative aims to strengthen the professional capabilities of the Korean content production workforce.
