Netflix and Mojang confirm Minecraft animated series is in production

Netflix and Mojang Studios have confirmed that production on the CG-animated ‘Minecraft’ series is still underway, addressing recent viral rumors and fan speculation regarding its potential cancellation.

Jens Bergensten, Chief Creative Officer at Mojang Studios, confirmed the project is still in development. While Netflix has not provided a specific release date or production timeline, the series is described as a 30-minute action-adventure comedy featuring an original story and new characters.

Animation studios WildBrain and Flying Bark are reportedly involved in the project, which was initially announced in 2024 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the game. The uncertainty stemmed from a lack of updates during the 2026 Annecy presentation, but representatives have clarified that work remains active.
