Netflix announces K-drama thriller Mousetrap

Netflix has released previews for its upcoming mystery thriller series, “Mousetrap,” scheduled to premiere on August 28, 2026. Based on the Kakao webtoon “Field Mouse” by Ludvico, the story draws inspiration from a traditional Korean folktale regarding a rat that absorbs a human's life energy.

The plot follows Moon-jae (played by Ryu Jun-yeol), a reclusive novelist who discovers that a mysterious figure known as “The Rat” has stolen his identity, name, and fortune. The narrative explores the psychological terror of being replaced, as Moon-jae finds his fingerprints and passwords no longer work and his social connections fail to recognize him.

A recent preview depicts a scene where Moon-jae attends a high school reunion to find a friend, only to be treated as an impostor by his former classmates. After failing to prove his identity, he is detained by police, during which he spots a mysterious lookalike in the crowd. To reclaim his life, Moon-jae forms an alliance with a loan shark who previously pursued him.
