Netflix announces Lizzie Borden true-crime series

Netflix has announced the fourth installment of its “Monsters” true-crime anthology series, titled “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story.” Scheduled for release on September 17, the series will explore the infamous 1892 case in Massachusetts involving Lizzie Borden.

Borden was accused of the axe murders of her father, Andrew, and stepmother, Abby Borden. Although she was eventually acquitted, the case remains one of the most enduring mysteries in American criminal history. The new season, produced by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, will feature Ella Purnell in the title role. The series aims to delve into the psychological complexities of a woman living under intense social and domestic pressures during that era.
