Netflix Announces 'Mousetrap' Thriller Starring Ryu Jun Yeol for Aug. 28 Release

Netflix confirmed that its original Korean mystery thriller series Mousetrap will debut worldwide on August 28. The streaming platform released the first official poster and trailer, highlighting the show’s eerie tone and central mystery.

Mousetrap draws inspiration from the Korean folktale “The Field Mouse That Ate Fingernails.” It follows novelist Moon Jae, whose identity and life are stolen by a mysterious rat‑like figure. Ryu Jun Yeol stars as Moon Jae, while Sul Kyung Gu plays the loan‑shark No Ja, who may aid or hinder his quest. The series is directed by Kim Hong Sun and written by Lee Jae Gon.

The trailer shows Moon Jae’s ordinary life unraveling after his fingerprint fails to unlock his phone, leading to violent confrontations and a chase to reclaim his stolen self. The series will be available exclusively on Netflix beginning August 28.
