Netflix announces new ‘Pride and Prejudice’ series for 2026

Netflix has announced a new six-episode series adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’, scheduled to premiere on December 3, 2026. Written by Dolly Alderton, the series aims to bring a fresh perspective to the 1813 story, with Alderton noting that her interpretation of Elizabeth Bennet is influenced by a more mature understanding of the character’s concerns regarding marriage and love.

The production emphasizes historical accuracy, particularly in costume design. Collaborating with costume designer Charlotte Walter, the team is using authentic 18th and 19th-century textiles to create realistic, simple attire for the female characters.

The main cast includes Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy. Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell will portray Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. This adaptation follows previous notable versions, such as the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley.
