Netflix announces new reality competition series Playing with Matches

Netflix has announced a new reality competition series titled ‘Playing with Matches,’ described as a ‘game of romantic deception.’ In this format, established couples must live together in a house and attempt to hide their existing relationships and chemistry from other contestants. The objective is to identify other couples while keeping their own connection secret to outlast the competition.

This announcement follows the recent unveiling of ‘Netflix, Will You Marry Me?’, a 12-part live unscripted series scheduled for a 2027 global launch. That series will allow viewers to vote on major decisions for a participant seeking a spouse. Netflix commissioner Syeda Irtizaali noted that live, unscripted television represents a significant opportunity for the streamer to build event-based storytelling.
