Netflix announces new South African content slate for 10th anniversary
Netflix has announced a new slate of South African programming to commemorate its 10th anniversary in the country. Since its 2016 launch, the streaming service has partnered with 30 local production companies, supporting more than 8,000 jobs.
The new content lineup includes the comedy How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents, produced by Burnt Onion Productions in collaboration with Jayan Moodley, scheduled for release on October 30. The reality television expansion features Love is Blind: South Africa, hosted by Dineo and Zothile ‘Solo Ntsizwa’ Langa and produced by afrOkaans, as well as the wedding docuseries Stars & Vows: Anele & Buzza.
Other upcoming projects include a new dating reality show from BrightFire, a scripted series from The Bomb Shelter Film Productions, and a multi-title partnership with Tshedza Pictures. Returning titles and sequels mentioned include Blood Legacy season 2, Tuiskoms season 2, Marked season 2, and the film Meet the Khumalos 2.
