Netflix announces Quasimodo film starring Vincent Cassel
Netflix has announced a new French film project titled ‘Quasimodo’, starring Vincent Cassel in the title role inspired by Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’. Directed by Jean-François Richet with a screenplay by Eric Besnard, the production is handled by Radar Films, a Mediawan company.
The film is described as a free adaptation set in Paris on the eve of the July Revolution of 1830. The plot follows the life of the man who inspired the fictional character, depicting a disfigured man caught between political unrest, a cholera epidemic, and an impossible love.
Netflix has released the first official poster and images, showcasing Cassel’s significant physical transformation through impressive makeup work. The project follows a recent trend in French cinema of adapting classic literary works for large-scale productions.
